Current-practice context · reviewed 14 October 2026

ARTO is randomized phase II evidence that adding metastasis-directed SBRT to abiraterone may improve outcomes in selected oligometastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. It does not establish MDT as a universal standard for all mCRPC; consider disease tempo, lesion number/location, systemic-treatment sensitivity and the absence of definitive phase III survival evidence when discussing MDT, preferably in a trial or multidisciplinary setting.
